How are MTF Allografts Different?
Safety. Quality. MTF was founded by a group of surgeons in 1987 in response to the need for safe, high quality allografts. More than 30 years later, MTF has grown to become the largest accredited tissue bank in the world, having distributed more than 7.5 million allografts. But, our commitment to providing surgeons and patients with allografts that are both safe and effective has not changed.
MTF’s approach to safety starts with donor selection. MTF has among the most stringent donor criteria of all tissue banks, accepting less than 3% of all offered donors. A licensed Medical Doctor and Registered Nurse review the donor’s social and medical history, as well as the results of serological testing that screens for infectious bacterial and viral diseases.
All MTF allografts, including Profile costal cartilage allograft, must pass USP<71> sterility testing before they can be implanted. USP<71> guidelines are established by the United States Pharmacopeia and represent the same sterility assurance level that covers sterile solutions and injectable medications used in hospitals and physicians’ offices every day.
